The Hamilton Township School District has a developmental guidance curriculum that focuses on the individual student. Elementary counselors provide children with comprehensive school counseling programs. Some of the programs offered by the guidance department are:
CLASSROOM GUIDANCE LESSONS
Students will receive classroom lessons every other week, alternating with Spanish. Lessons focus on issues such as self-esteem, friendship, anti-bullying, stranger-danger, decision making, problem-solving and more personal developmental topics.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
Students may come and speak to the counselor privately to discuss a variety of issues. Some of which include peer relations, family problems, divorce/separation, death/loss and conflict resolution.
GROUP COUNSELING
Groups are held various times throughout the school year. As much as possible, groups meet during lunch, as not to miss academic subjects. Additional groups may be formed on an as-needed basis.
CRISIS MANAGEMENT TEAM
The Crisis Management Team at University Heights is available to address crisis situations that may arise.
