About University Heights Elementary School
-
University Heights Elementary School is located at 645 Paxson Avenue in Hamilton Township, New Jersey. The school was named in memory of Howard D. Morrison, a very distinguished educator in 1977.
Our school is committed to meeting the needs of all of our students. We value each child as an individual, with qualities that makes each his own person. Our school community helps to provide a positive, nurturing environment conducive to learning. Our mission is accomplished each day through the collaborative efforts of a wonderful staff, a talented group of parent volunteers and a very active and supportive PTA.
As educators we meet the needs of our students academically, socially and emotionally. Our goal is to help each child to be the best he can be and to become a caring, responsible citizen in the community. The six pillars of Character are the foundation of our school. We practice these pillars, Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Trustworthiness, Fairness, and Citizenship in all of our school wide activities. Implementing programs such as Second Step and Steps to Respect help us to develop good character.
Our dedicated staff also continues to meet the academic needs of our students. Tools such as benchmark assessments and daily work help us to identify areas of strength and weakness. Teachers, data coaches and administrators help us to analyze data and use the data to properly drive our instruction. The after school tutoring program and STEM family program also helps to prepare our students for the state assessments.
Our school community, teachers, students, and parents work together collaboratively to help our students succeed. Our PTA is involved in all aspects of our school program. Parents volunteer in the library, in the classroom, and also in other programs throughout the year. Family activities are also planned throughout the year.
We believe that strengthening family involvement in school and working together will help to increase student achievement. We make it our goal to value our families as key people in our University Heights School Community.
