Degrees and Certifications:

Preschool Thru Third Grade Teaching Certificate Teacher of Students with Disabilities Teaching Certificate

Mrs. Grace J. Smith

Hello Parents, Guardians, and Students!

My name is Mrs. Grace Smith and I will be the Autistic Kindergarten thru first grade teacher this upcoming school year 2021-2022. I cannot wait to get started and back in the classroom! Having fun learning and growing with my students, parents and guardians! Here is some information about me.

In pursuing my education degree, I attended Kean University and Caldwell University to receive my teacher’s certification in special education and early childhood.  Starting my career in special education;  I became a classroom teacher’s assistant in a preschool Autism class in the North Brunswick school district. Shortly after, I took a position as a preschool teacher for students with Multiple Disabilities at Joseph F. Cappello School in Mercer County Special Services School district. The following year I continued teaching students with Multiple Disabilities at kindergarten through 1st grade level. Most recently, the district placed me into a 3rd grade Cognitive Severe classroom and a 4th grade Autism class.

When I am not teaching I love spending time with my family doing fun activities like traveling, sightseeing, cooking, reading, and watching Disney with my daughter. I love getting coffee from Dunkin or Starbucks; it keeps me going! Disney is one of my favorites; especially going to Disney World with my family. Overall, teaching special education is my passion. I have been teaching for three years almost four. I would not trade my job for the world. The smiles and laughs of my students allows me to love my job. Please feel free to contact me anytime.
