Mrs. Maria Schultz
Thank you for visiting my professional website.
My name is Maria Schultz.
My greatest talent...teaching.
My greatest gift...my life.
My greatest love...my family.
My greatest passion...Ryan's Quest.
I graduated from the College of New Jersey in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Psychology. I have been teacher in Hamilton Township since September 2001. I began my career as a first grade teacher at Greenwood Elementary School. AFter five years, I transferred to Robinson Elementary School. During my thirteen years in the first grade classroom, I found and developed my love of teaching children how to read. Next, I took my skill set and experience to a different department within Hamilton. I became a Basic Skills teacher and was able to work with struggling readers by using various interventions and programs to help them build both skill and confidence.
My desire to learn more as an educator continued to grow and grow. I decided to expand my skill set and knowledge by becoming a certified instructor of the Orton Gillingham Method through the Dyslexia Training Institute. I invested over 120 hours of time in coursework and practicum lessons in order to obtain this certification. In addition, I have participated in two additional 30-hour training courses through the Institute for Multisensory Education.
Currently, I work across the district with students in the Multisensory Reading Program. I absolutely love this position. I love working with a team of individuals who help students grow in ways they never quite imagined. Opening the doors of reading not only opens the doors to books-it unlocks the confidence and pride that so many children need in order to become the individual they were destined to be!
This is, beyond doubt, why I teach.
