Mission Statement

  • Our mission at Lalor Elementary School is to provide a healthy and safe environment where scholars are supported and challenged to become leaders.   We are committed to building a culture of character and respect that embraces diversity.  Our highly qualified staff recognizes the importance of developing partnerships with families and community members.  Our school provides a rich learning experience that fosters creativity, innovation, and encourages lifelong learning for a changing world.

Estamos comprometidos a construir una cultura de carácter y respeto que abrace la diversidad. About Lalor Elementary School

  • The Lalor Elementary School is a stately building, featuring original hardwood floors and woodwork with high ceilings and tall windows. Lalor retains early 20th Century architecture, although it has been completely refurbished in recent years. A neighborhood focal point since 1926, Lalor School proudly conveys a sense of community and tradition for the families of the historic Lalor Tract. 

    • Lalor students become kind and caring citizens through a focus on social-emotional learning and character education in a Responsive Classroom.
    • Lalor participates in the Rutgers School Climate Transformation Project. Curriculum includes a Balanced Literacy approach; Guided Math workshop model, Next Gen Science Standards, Technology, Music & Arts.
    • Students use hands-on STEM & technology such as Spheros, Code.org, Google & Chromebooks. School clubs, After School Tutoring, Early Act, Good News, community service projects, STEM events, and more.
    • Lalor scholars are recognized regularly during school-wide celebrations for character education, academic success, attendance, and more.
    • Our teachers carefully plan lessons that meet the needs of each student while preparing them for success in the 21st century. Lessons are designed to develop critical thinking skills, communication skills, and innovation.
