The first half of the year is Accounting Essentials.
The second half of the year is Corporate Accounting
This is an entry-level course. You are going to learn the basics of accounting including:
Analyzing debits/credits (Why and where $ go), how to create a journal, how to create a ledger, how to create a Trial Balance, Worksheet, Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Adjustments and Closing entries, Depreciation, How to calculate payroll, how to review financial statements.
We will work in a Proprietorship, Partnership and Corporate environment. You will have opportunities to study Business Ethics and solve cases.
This is an accelerated course of the accounting cycle which is taught using a college level textbook. You will learn the basics of accounting including: Analyzing, debit/credits, Journal transactions, Ledgers, Crating a trial balance, worksheet, adjustments, balance sheet, income statement and closing entries. You will learn Depreciation, Payroll and Inventory. You will have opportunities to study Business Ethics and solve cases.
This one semester, introductory course will expose students to the major segments of the financial environment. Students will take on the role of consumers and engage in a wide array of personal finance and business experiences such as: understanding income, checking and savings accounts, buying wisely, pitfalls related to credit, and investing and establishing a financial plan to accomplish goals. Students will also learn about topics related to work such as: employee benefits, charitable contributions, and civic responsibilities including taxes.
CLASSROOM POLICY 2019/2020
Cell Phones and Earbuds/Headphones
- Cell phones and other electronic devices (including headphones, earbuds and games) must be put away upon entering the room. You may either check them into the cell phone caddy OR stow them away in your bag.
- Cell phones, etc. are NOT to be used UNLESS I tell you otherwise.
- NO DEVICES are allowed during a test. If your phone, earbuds or games are out at ANY TIME during your test, your test will be taken, given a zero , and a discipline form will be sent to administration per the school policy. There is NO exception.
- If you are using your device without permission (other than a test as above), I will ask you to put it away and thank you for doing so...ONCE. After that, I will begin the process outlined in the student handbook for cell phone use.
Please turn in this policy to me which acknowledges that you have read and will adhere to aforementioned rules.
CLASSROOM GRADING POLICY
AS A STUDENT IN THE CLASSROOM OF MRS. BUCKLEY FOR 2019/2020, I ACKNOWLEDGE THE GRADE CONTRACT SHE HAS LISTED BELOW TO ASSURE THAT EACH STUDENT LEARNS AND IS REPONSIBLE FOR ASSIGNMENTS TO RECEIVE A PASSING GRADE.
I WILL MAKE UP ALL OF MY MISSING ASSIGNMENTS WITHIN FIVE DAYS OF RETURNING TO SCHOOL FOR FULL CREDIT. ANY ASSIGNMENTS NOT HANDED IN WITHIN FIVE CLASS DAYS WILL RESULT IN A ZERO. ALL ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE POSTED ON CLASS WHITEBOARD OR GOOGLE CLASSROOM FOR STUDENT BY MRS. BUCKLEY. ANY SPECIAL REQUESTS TO MAKEUP WORK LATER THEN ONE WEEK WILL RESULT IN THE MAXIMUM GRADE OF A 50.
I WILL NOT DISRUPT THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR MY FELLOW STUDENTS.
I WILL RESPECT THE CLASSROOM POLICY POSTED IN CLASSROOM AND IN CLASS.
THE TEACHER, SUSAN BUCKLEY, WILL ASSIST STUDENT WITH LEARNING ANY MISSED CONTENT DUE TO ABSENCE AFTER SCHOOL .
I WILL SUPPORT THE CURRICULUM AND ASSIGNMENTS PRESENTED BY THE TEACHER .
