Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Melissa Silverman
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!
This year I am teaching Multi-Sensory Reading (using the Orton-Gillingham method), resource level English 9, and co-teaching English 9B and English 11B. This is my 7th year teaching at Nottingham and my 10th year teaching overall. My past experiences include preschool, kindergarten (in Beijing, China), middle school, and high school.
I earned my bachelor's degree in English from Rutgers University. During my time at Rutgers, I was a member of the marching band (clarinet, piccolo, and mellophone), a theatre group (actor and director), and editor of a campus newspaper. After working for a year in a preschool, I attended Georgian Court University for dual teaching certifications in English and Students with Disabilities.
I enjoy traveling, learning about other cultures and languages, cooking, baking, and crafts like sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Most of my free time is spent with my husband and playing with our active 1 year old.
Class assignments and materials are posted in Google Classroom.
