Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Vincent Sclafani. The students refer to me as Mr. S. This is my 19th year as an educator. All have been spent in the Hamilton District and at G.E. Wilson Elementary School. This is my first year working as a Basic Skills teacher after teaching 2nd grade for 17 years. I also taught 3rd grade for one year. I was selected as the Teacher of the Year in 2011 and in 2020! I was also recognized as one of New Jersey's Outstanding teachers by the NJ PTA in 2020. In 2020, I was lucky enough to appear on the "Today Show" for World Teacher's Day!"
Here is a little personal history about me. I was born in New York City and moved to Staten Island when I was 5 years old. I lived there until I was 14. When I was a freshman in high school, my family and I moved to Manalapan, New Jersey. I graduated from Manalapan High School in 1997. After high school, I attended Brookdale Community College and then went on to Rider University. I graduated from Rider University with my Business Administration Degree in 2001.
While I was looking for a job in the business world, I started substitute teaching to earn some income. The more and more I started working with students, the more I realized that being a teacher was my true passion and calling. I went back to school while still substituting and received my teaching degree from Georgian Court University in 2003.
I am currently married, have two beautiful children and reside in Jackson, New Jersey. I am also a kickboxing trainer at CKO Freehold.
My biggest goal when I chose to become an educator was to make a difference in children's lives! I always wanted to be "that teacher" that they will always remember! I hope I have done that in the past and will continue to do that in the future!
