"The elementary school years set the foundation for developing the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for children to become healthy, competent and confident learners. The school counselor can impact these years by implementing a school counseling program and collaborating with school staff, parents and the community to create a safe and respectful learning environment. By providing education, prevention, early identification and intervention, the school counselor can help their students achieve academic success, develop an understanding of career opportunities, and develop social/emotional skills in response to issues they face (ASCA, 2019)."

During remote learning, Mrs. Thomas will be available to speak with students and their families via phone, class dojo, or google meet during the hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm, Monday through Friday.

    Black History Month

February is the start of Black History Month, a time where we can learn more about the contributions from a multitude of African Americans that helped advance our society today. It is so important that we not only acknowledge differences among individuals, groups and others’ cultural backgrounds but celebrate them as well! Be sure to check dojo and google classroom daily to see what we are doing to celebrate.

    Social Emotional Learning

Just want to send a reminder to all the students and families to check dojo and my google classroom weekly so you can keep up with our social emotional learning strategies within our school! As you all know every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday you can expect to see an activity or resource posted for you to use at home or in the academic setting! Mondays are for mindfulness, Wednesdays are for wellness, and Fridays are for our feelings! I look forward to practicing our SEL learning together!
