Degrees and Certifications:
Art Fundamentals is a first year high school art course that teaches basic art concepts, focusing mainly on the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design.
ELEMENTS OF ART: the visual components of color, form, line, shape, space, texture, and value.
PRINCIPLES OF ART: the means an artist uses to organize elements within a work of art: balance, emphasis, movement, proportion, rhythm, unity, and variety.
There will be 12 projects over 4 marking periods, plus practice projects, sketchbook assignments, and critiques. The projects are summative grades, the practice projects are formative grades, and the critiques are individual practice grades. The sketchbook assignments may be formative or individual practice.
