     Quizzes/Notebook/Journal/Classwork=40%

     Homework/Participation/Behavior=10%

     January 4-8 (Google Classroom #0017)

    Students will be reading the story, "Sachiko Means Happiness". They will identify characteristics of realistic fiction, learn new vocabulary, practice drawing conclusions, identify affixes, and determine the climax of the story. They will have an end of selection test on Thursday. We will be starting Unit 7 in Spelling. ABC Order, Definitions, and Sentences will be due by Friday.

    January 11-15 (Google Classroom #0018)

    Students will be reading the story, "Three Hundred Pesos". They will identify characteristics of a folk tale, learn new vocabulary, practice finding context clues to identify unknown words, and compare/contrast characters in a story. They will have an end of selection test on Friday. Students will complete a spelling and meaning activity for words from unit 7 and take a spelling test on Friday.

    January 18-22 (Google Classroom #0019)

    Students will learn how to create a flyer this week on a chosen topic such as a Yard Sale, Birthday Party Invitation, Lost Animal, etc. They will learn what information is appropriate for different flyers. Students will start Unit 8 in spelling by completing ABC Order, Definitions, and Sentences by Friday.

    January 25-29 (Google Classroom #0020)

    Students will begin writing a narrative essay by using a graphic organizer to write topic sentences and details. They will begin to publish their essay once their graphic organizers are completed. 

    February 1-5 (Google Classroom #0021)

    Students will take the iReady Diagnostic Assessment. They will complete their narrative writing, read a Newsela Article, and complete unfinished work. Students will complete a spelling and meaning assignment on Unit 8 and take a test on Friday.

    February 8-12 (Google Classroom #0022)

    Students will begin a research project by learning about a famous Black American. They will put their research into a slide presentation. Students will complete ABC Order, Definitions, and Sentences for spelling Unit 9.

    February 15-19 (Google Classroom #0023)

    Students will be taking the Bridges to Literature Mid-Year Assessment. They will continue to work on their research project. Students will complete a Unit 9 spelling assignment and take a spelling test on Friday.
