    There will be no further Title 1 assignments!  Happy Summer!  <3

    *Hello to my first Grade students! I have assigned a Raz kids story for you for tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday. Please log into Raz kids the way your teacher has you do so. Read or listen to the story. The story is: Going Away. We have read it once in our group. : ) On Wednesday, please read the story again and see if you can answer the Comprehension quiz! (a parent may assist with reading the questions). You will be great at choosing the answer! Thank you!  (Re-reading is an important skill that promotes learning and confidence!)


    On Thursday and next week since it is a short one we will continue with the Choice Board!  : )

    3/16/20 - Read :  Meli on the Stairs. Read to find out what Meli did on the stairs.

    Digraph activity: What are digraphs?  Digraphs are two letters that make one sound!

    Cut out the dighaph cards, Ex: ch, sh, th, wh, and ck. Glue or tape on the top of the blue construction paper. Cut out picture cards. Sort by digraph sound. Share the picture cards with someone else. Make up a funny story using the words of the picture cards together!

     3/19 - Read story, Flap, Flap, FlyNew words are: flap (little ducks will flap their wings), walk, eats, swims, fly. Retell story to a family member. What sound does f and l make together?

     3/20 - Reread story, Flap, Flap, Fly: Read story to a family member. What did the baby ducks do at the end?  Find all the fl blend words. Make up a new story using those words and tell it to someone!  : )

     3/23 - Read story, Spots, it is an easy one for you! : ) New words: ladybug, (a compound word: two small words put together into one) and clown. (ow says "ow", as in ouch)  What animals had spots? Can you think of any others?  (giraffe, cheeta) can you think of any words that rhyme with spot?  (Change sp to a "d") dot, or pot, lot, hot, not...

    3/24 - Read story, Playing with Blocks  together with someone. : ) New words: made (magic "e" makes the a say it's name), house, wall, road, tunnel, bridge and building.  What did the kids make with blocks? Retell story.

    3/25 - Reread Playing with Blocks. Please draw a picture of your favorite part of the story and write a sentence about why you liked it.  Then review sight wirds above!

    3/26 - Read the storyHelping. Look at each picture before you read. : ) New words: helping (help + ing), books, pick (pick up), feed, wash, dishes, rake, leaves, carry  How did the kids help out?

    3/27 - Read Going on a Train Ride. New words: going, train, ride (magic "e" makes a long " i" sound), sister, brother, Gram, Gramps, bear  Where do you think they are going?

     3/30 - Read Clouds. New words: Cloud, Kate, Tony, bird, horse, house and rabbit.  Did you ever see shapes in the clouds? You can start the sorting game by cutting out the pictures. Sort them in rows by the same vowel sound. (Short a, e, i, o u.)

     3/31 - Reread the story, Clouds. Read to someone. Then take the sorting pictures game and turn the cards over. lay them face down in rows to play a memory game. Try to match pictures with the same vowel sound. Remember where the pictures are. Turn them over to make a match. Keep all of your matches. : )

    4/1 - Please read 100 books today! : ) Tee hee, Not really! What day is it today? April fool!  Please reread the story, CloudsRead the story to another person. Draw a picture of your favorite part of the story, Clouds.  Write a sentence about it. (or two?) Make a connection. Have you ever looked up at the clouds?

     4/2 - Read the story, Look. It's a short one! Who was hiding?  Then read the word cards with glued sounds "ill" and "all". Cut and play a memory game with one set of words. Keep the other set to lay out face up and match. Each time you turn over a word read it and use in a sentence.  Have fun!  Or play a Go Fish game with a partner.

      4/2 - Read the story, Up in a TreeRetell the story to another person.  New Words: Hugs, Meg, come, down, toy, food, eat, Gram
