Ancient history is a survey of ancient civilizations from the early river valleys to the fall of the Roman Empire. The course
provides basic preparation for many of the other social sciences. The formulation of the basis for western thought and
culture will be discussed.
Chapters 1-6: Beginnings of civilization to the Fall of Rome
Medieval history serves as the bridge from the end of the ancient period, with the fall of the Roman Empire, to the
modern period of history and development of the modern nation state. This course continues the study of people from
the time of the Barbarians to the end of the Hundred Years War.
