Curriculum Overview
The HTSD 8th Grade Social Studies curriculum is currently under revision. When it has been finalized, it will be posted here for students and families to access. Thank you for your patience as we incorporate additional NJSLS civics standards to better prepare our students for an active role as responsible, informed citizens in the 21st century!
Grading Policy
This class follows the standard HTSD grading policy, which is outlined below:- 50% summatives (minimum 3 per marking period) = includes tests, major projects, essays
- 40% formatives (minimum 5 per marking period) = includes quizzes, mini projects, exit slips
- 10% independent practice (minimum 5 per marking period) = includes daily classwork
Students, please see me if you want to learn how to calculate your average.
Parents, please email me if you have any questions about grades. Please also visit your child's PowerSchool Portal to view all upcoming due dates for assessments, projects, and homework.
Students will be given 1 week to complete and submit a formative or summative assignment. Teachers will use their discretion about dropping points for late assignments. If not handed in for partial credit after one week, the assignment will receive a ZERO.
Assignments that are not submitted on time will have a "0" place-holder UNTIL the assignment is completed and submitted. Once a grade is placed, the "0" is removed.
